Journal History

The Kickstarter campaign for Deja-Vu… has gone live! Go take a look and show your support by backing it and sharing the link to the page if you like it.
Hi Guys, I'll keep it brief so you'll go straight to the important part:

:iconnebezial: Stjepan Sejic own created and produced a comic book titled Death Vigil and he's giving the issues out for free here on DA. Any explanation on why he's doing it is in his journals and descriptions below the issues.
Here's some of his journals you should read to better understand the topic:
f#$k it! it's death vigil for EVERYONE!So i've been sitting here thinking...
we live in the age of kickstarter and patreon....
people are supporting all sorts of projects...
i don't have the patience not the focus to handle all that... but it did get me thinking...
if teasers for projects can get people to fund it... what aout the full thing?
i don't do crowdfunding. i make comics.
i publish comics. if people love and buy my comics... i get to make more comics.
so with that in mind. i will post the entirety of death vigil here.
from there on it's in the hands of the readers. if you want to support the book being made, i will post the comixology links, and image digital links, as well as trade preorder links.
so if you feel this is your kind of comic, and it's something you want to see made in it'y entirety..and can afford to support it by buying it...thank you.
if not, i still hope you like it. so with no further a do... this week i will be uploading issues.
starting to
death vigil preorder linksso... here it is..the thing that critically injured my book...
some fun insight for any of you who want to get your own series running...
without promotion...quality won't get you far.
let's put things into context
this is death vigil series result on comic book roundup
comic book roundup is to comics what metacritic is to games and whatnot. it compiles multiple reviews and creates an average score.
based on reviews death vigil has a score of 9.1 out od 10
and yet here we are.
i will now copy a part from my previous journal as it is relevant
now, as i work predominantly for independent companies, my work can be a bit hard to get.
reason for this is a simple one. comic book stores buy their supplies from diamond. the main distributor.
they buy stuff they know will sell. comics

And here's the issues you can download in pdf format from his gallery:
death vigil 1 full issue- cuz it's a good day :) by nebezialdeath vigil 2 full issue happy new year! :) by nebezialdeath vigil 3 by nebezial death vigil 4 by nebezial
What you should do: download the issues and read it, enjoy it, abuse it, and if you like it, if you feel enriched, entertained, excited by this book then go and buy it somewhere following Stjepan instruction to buy the books in digital or on paper, send him money to thank him, buy him an ice cream, whatever but manifest your appreciation for his work. Stjepan is doing something great: he's giving out his hard work for free to keep his creature alive, the least you can do is check if you may dig it or not. Stjepan is a really great and inspiring artist so go check his creation, if you don't like it then you're free to walk away, on the other side if you like it contribute somehow. To make things easier for you here's the links to the Image comics and Comixology website pages of the book:……

Hi. Lookin' at your pages I can see you've a pretty consolidated style, that's good. Also your composition is very dramatic and dynamic, that's good but always keep in mind when to exagerate with drama and when keep things simple. As every pro in the industry will say you always keep practicing with anatomy, not only human anatomy, also objects, animals, clothes; that's something you'll always try to improve if you're smart, even when you'll be in your 80's. I'd suggest you, 'cause I see you ink your own work, to work on your line, line modulation is essential to give the illusion of three-dimensional space onto a flat plane (the paper or the screen). Also try to differentiate more your characters facial features and expressions, go to a crowded place, like a train station or a bar, and draw the people you see trying to capture their mood in the simpler way you can; fast-paced life drawing is something that will pay you back when you'll need it. Aside these usual guidelines that are quite general your work looks good and will look better as you go, the important thing is that you keep practicing on anatomy, composition and line. Hope this helps. Best, Antonio.

damn. thanx. I ask for other artist to check out my work all the time. your like the first honest opinion I've got. I really appreciate it. its always good to see my work from anothers perspective. I like wat u said. but im confused about.. exaggerate drama. wen do I keep it simple wen can I go overboard?

Positioning the "camera" at head hight is "quite", flat and of simple readability, while positioning the camera from below and using a more dramatic body gesture makes the scene more dramatic, strong and communicative. Making the a page using head-hight panel only is boring, while making a page with dramatic from below panel only is boring too. You've to figure out how to use camera placement and panel lay-out to give the tension, reading speed and storytelling you wanna to the page and, thus far, to the story itself. You've to understand when slower is better and when faster is better, when quieter is better and when louder is better. Hope it makes sense. Best.
